Men’s Hoops Announces 2021-22 Conference USA Schedule

HOUSTON — 18 league games, including nine home games, highlight the 2021-22 Rice Men's Basketball Conference USA schedule, announced Monday afternoon by Rice Head Coach Scott Pera. The additional 18 conference games complement the 13 non-conference games previously announced, to complete an 18-game schedule, 15 of which will take place at Tudor Fieldhouse.
 
For the fifth time in the last seven years, Rice will begin conference play on the road, traveling to Denton to face C-USA champion North Texas on Jan. 1.
 
The Owls then host their first home series beginning Jan. 6 when they welcomes Middle Tennessee to Tudor Fieldhouse. Two days later, they will host UAB.
 
Rice heads back on the road Jan. 13 when it travels to Bowling Green, Ky., to face NIT participant WKU before heading to Huntington, W.V., to face Marshall on Jan. 15.
 
Rice then hosts five of the next seven games inside Tudor Fieldhouse, beginning on Jan. 20 when it welcomes Old Dominion. Two days later, it will host Charlotte on Jan. 22.
 
The Owls then face NIT Consolation game winner Louisiana Tech in Ruston (Jan. 27) followed by Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Jan. 29.
 
Rice opens February with a three-game homestand, beginning with UTSA on Feb. 3 before hosting UTEP two days later. A week later (Feb. 12), the Owls will face North Texas for the second time when they welcome it to Houston.
 
Rice will head to Birmingham, Ala., to face UAB on Feb. 17 before traveling to Miami, Fla., to face FIU on Feb. 19.
 
The final home series of the season will begin on Feb. 24 when Rice hosts Louisiana Tech. Southern Miss will be the Owls Senior Day opponent on Feb. 26.
 
On Mar. 3, the Owls will travel to El Paso to face UTEP before closing the regular season at UTSA on Mar. 5.
 
The 2022 Conference USA Tournament will be held at the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas, Mar. 8-12.
 
Game times and television information will be announced at a later date.
 
Rice welcomes back 10 lettermen and all five starters from last year's squad that went 17-15 and advanced to the third round of the Conference USA Tournament. Third Team All-CUSA member Quincy Olivari as well as C-USA Newcomer of the Year Travis Evee look to lead the team into the upcoming season.
