HOUSTON — Sophomore guard Quincy Olivari was named the Conference USA Player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the conference office.

It is Olivari's first career C-USA Player of the Week honor. He is the second Owl to win the award this year, joining Travis Evee.

Olivari helped Rice earn a sweep over Southern Miss, averaging 24.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while connecting on 47.1% from the floor, 47.6% from three and 87.5% from the free throw line.

In the series opener, he recorded game-highs of 29 points and seven rebounds. He connected on 10-of-19 shots, including 6-of-11 from three, his sixth game of the year with at least five three-pointers. His performance helped Rice to an 88-62 victory, Rice's largest Conference USA victory since joining the league in 2005 and largest conference victory since an 82-49 victory over San Jose State on Jan. 31, 2004.

The following day, Olivari led the Owls to a 76-68 victory over the Golden Eagles. The Atlanta, Ga., native just missed a double-double, scoring a team-high 20 points while tying his career-high with nine rebounds. With two 20-point games, he now has eight on the season.
