Bui & Renken Earn C-USA All-Academic Honors

Owls Compete At C-USA Championships Feb. 26-29

DALLAS — Rice's Brittany Bui and Cailey Renken have been named to the 2019-2020 Conference USA Swimming & Diving All-Academic team, the league office announced Thursday in Dallas, Texas.

The C-USA Swimming All-Academic Team was selected on a vote of each institution's academic coordinators. In order to qualify for nomination, student-athletes must have achieved at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and serve as a key competitor of their respective team.

Not only is Bui a two-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll with a 3.62 GPA in mechanical engineering, the junior from is a two-time C-USA Swimmer of the Week this season who owns the league's fastest marks this season in both the 100-yard butterfly (53.42) and 200-fly (1:57.60). Both of Bui's butterfly times are NCAA Provisional marks and the 200 is among the Top 50 in Division I this season.

Renken maintained a 3.94 grade point average majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. The junior from Alpharetta, Ga., is a two-time Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist who posted C-USA's second-fastest mark in the 200-breaststroke so far this season (2:15.54) and also currently owns a C-USA Top 10 mark in the 100-breaststroke (1:03.93).

C-USA's annual Swimming & Diving Championship is Feb. 26-29 in Atlanta. The conference meet will be held at the Georgia Tech Swim Center that hosted aquatics events for the 1996 Olympics. The full list of Academic Swim Honorees is as follows:
